Works with my old 18V hammer drill November 20, 2007 P. Gaul (Reisterstown, Maryland) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This review is actually being written by Paulette's husband - Dan.
When one of the NiCad batteries for my old hammer drill, 0624-20, died, I successfully 9v jump started the battery. After another 6 months both NiCads were dead and neither would jump start. I bought a new hammer drill, 0824-24, that came with these new V18 batteries and charger. I bought the new drill because different reviews had mentioned that these new batteries would not fit into the old case, that the battery could not be connected in reverse, or that the battery meter would not work when connected to an old 18V tool. Now that I have received the new drill, here are my findings: The battery can indeed be connected to my old 18V tool in both the forward and reverse directions. Also, the battery meter works no matter which way the battery is connected to the old 18V tool. After realizing that the battery meter button is a little finicky (it took a few tries before finding the magic way it wants to be pushed), I was able to get the meter to work every time. The V18 batteries and V18 charger will NOT fit into the old case - however, with just a little cramming, I was able to fit my old hammer drill into the new case along with the new batteries, new charger, and new hammer drill. The new batteries are bigger than the old batteries but they are lighter than the old batteries.
Great batteries uphold claims. January 8, 2008 K. Nichols 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This battery and charger set was a Christmas gift for my father. After just one use on the job, he had stories about drilling holes in ½ inch steel, and never even needing the second battery. I can't yet review the life expectancy since it has only been a few weeks. However, with the warranty, I can't think of any reason not to recommend these.
As a side note, if you have 14-volt or 18-volt NiCd batteries, there is a recall for some models that should allow you to get a free replacement. You might want to consider before dropping the $ for these.

A huge improvement--worth the money November 6, 2007 R. Keel (San Diego, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Like many owners of Milwaukee tools, I was pretty much fed up with the NiCd battery packs that the manufacturer originally included with the Milwaukee rechargeable tools. When my NiCds finally quit (after only a couple of years and light use), I was determined not to get another set of NiCds. My search for something better brought me to the Lithium-ion battery packs, which are a huge improvement over the NiCds: lighter, more powerful, and much more reliable.
Milwaukee claims that these deliver fade-free performance, and I agree. They go longer between charges and include a "Fuel Gauge" to let you know how much power is left in the battery pack, a great convenience.
You can whine about the NiCd performance or bite the bullet and get a pair of these. As far as I know, the Lithium Ions weren't available when I got my drill kit, so just consider this a technological upgrade and be thankful you don't have to buy a whole new drill kit.
The only negative I can report is that these new battery packs don't fit in the original tool cases (i.e., the Li-ion batteries are a little too wide for the NiCd slots). But given the Li-ion's overall performance, that's a small price to pay.
Outstanding price, great product September 16, 2008 J. Sanchez (South Texas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Battery works forwards and backwards. Battery charge scale on back isn't funky, just press the dang button you idiots.
Only bad thing and it's minor. 18v batteries won't fit in the old hard case but this is no fault of the seller, it's Milwaukees. Just bought a tool bag and stuff everything in there.
Best price I saw on the internet. Everything works as promised.
New life for my drill January 25, 2008 Stan Wayne (San Diego, Ca, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using these for a couple of months now and am completely satisfied. I have two 18 volt drills and the batteries were going bad. These new batteries are all they are advertised. The have a quick recharge and provide very good power for a very long time. There is no slowing of the drill as the batteries run down. When the batteries are empty, the drill just stops. Kind of a surprise and takes a little getting used to. The first couple of times, I thought the drill had malfunctioned.
The lighter weight is a big plus as they are much lighter than the original batteries.
I would strongly recommend anyone with the milwaukee drill replace the original batteries with these.
